Another gift for Gracie appropriately posted on her original due date.  Gracie arrived 10 days early on February 5th, 2010.  You can visit my blog for the 5th to see the baby blanket I also made for Gracie.

This dress is probably the prettiest thing I've made and I'm very happy with it.

Gracie's mom, Lauren, isn't a huge fan of pink so what do you make instead for a newborn little girl?  A pretty dress! I found the pattern for this dress on The Art of Crochet by Teresa's website, http://crochet-mania.blogspot.com/2008/07/blog-post_22.html. Teresa aims to teach the world to crochet one stitch at a time :)  Thank you Teresa for this pattern!

A wonderful friend of the family recently became involved with the Huronia Communities Foundation of Midland.  The Foundation organizes an award dinner every year to recognize those in our community who have made financial contributions to improve the quality of daily life in our community. This year to advertise for the 2010 Circle of Honour Philanthropy Awards the HCF is putting ads in the local paper, providing posters to local businesses and informing the Southern Georgian Bay Chamber of Commerce through their monthly newsletter.  When looking for someone to create all these ad pieces our wonderful friend of the family immediately thought of us!

We are very thankful for this opportunity as it's a great first introduction for Home Cooked Website Solutions Inc. to our local community.  We will also be creating the events program.  Jason and I are looking forward to attending the event and meeting many people and business owners in our area. Thanks again Mary!

Congratulations Lauren & Mike on a beautiful baby girl!  This is one of the many things I made for Lauren and Gracie.  I hope Gracie finds the quilted cotton fleece blanket a perfect soft place to play.

To make this blanket visit your favorite fabric store and pick out two fun cotton fleece prints. Wash, dry and iron your fabric before you start! Lay your first piece face-down on a large working surface. Cut an appropriate sized piece of quilt batting and place it on the first fabric.  Now lay your final piece of fabric face-up on top. Using safety pins, pin all three layers together in about a dozen different places.  This will ensure the layers don't move while you're sewing the blanket together.  Cut both top and bottom fabric so they're 1" - 2" from the batting edge.

To secure your three layers together find a yarn that matches and put small single stitches throughout the blanket, this is quilting.  I decided to tie small yellow and white bows in a pattern across the blanket. This will hold the layers of your blanket together.

Now you're ready to finish your edges. Fold the edge of your fleece sides in towards the batting about an inch and iron for nicely finished edges.  Pin your top and bottom fabric together along the edge to form a clean line. I decided to hand stitch my edges using yarn.  You can use a sewing machine if you prefer.

Once done, remove all your pins and you're finished! A great soft, personal and home made gift!

Can you believe it?!? My little sister just turned 18! I'd like to say she's catching up to me but unfortunately it doesn't work that way.  Although this crochet project was made for her as a Christmas present, it's only appropriate that I post it to my blog on her birthday. 

I had lots of fun making this hat but the entire time I was crocheting it I was thinking how ugly it was :( but I kept on pushing through.  When it was done I still wasn't sure about it but I took some pictures for this blog and after taking a look at the pictures I changed my mind, it's a pretty cool hat!  Katherine was happy to receive it as a Christmas present and she says she likes it :)



I made the hat using the pattern provided by Lion Brand Yarn.  You can find it here.  You can see I added my own touches and changed yarn when I wanted rather than listening to the pattern.  You can do the same!  Have fun with it.

This was my first crocheted stuffed animal attempt and it was a great success! I think this little guy is the cutest thing and I encourage any crocheter to give it a try.

I found the pattern created by WolfDreamer when I was searching for something fun, modern(ish) and cute to make for Gracie.  I can't believe WolfDreamer makes her own patterns that emulate Pokemon and Mario Brothers characters, it just amazes me. I plan on using her patterns in the future because they're free, simple to follow and produce the most adorable little animals. Thank you WolfDreamer!
