![]() I designed this one-page website to promote the Optimist Club of Uxbridge's popular Duck Derby event. It is a simple online purchase and payment site. You can conveniently visit the site and purchase rubber ducks for the derby this year. Visitors will use the popular and trusted PayPal payment system. You can see the site at www.uxbridgeduckderby.com! ![]() ![]() A wonderful friend of the family recently became involved with the Huronia Communities Foundation of Midland. The Foundation organizes an award dinner every year to recognize those in our community who have made financial contributions to improve the quality of daily life in our community. This year to advertise for the 2010 Circle of Honour Philanthropy Awards the HCF is putting ads in the local paper, providing posters to local businesses and informing the Southern Georgian Bay Chamber of Commerce through their monthly newsletter. When looking for someone to create all these ad pieces our wonderful friend of the family immediately thought of us! We are very thankful for this opportunity as it's a great first introduction for Home Cooked Website Solutions Inc. to our local community. We will also be creating the events program. Jason and I are looking forward to attending the event and meeting many people and business owners in our area. Thanks again Mary! This is the first of four full page HCF ads placed in the Midland Free Press: The Huronia Communities Foundation is 10 this year. I created a logo to recognize the achievement. To learn more about our business visit www.homecooked.ca! ![]() I figured I better practice my picture editing skills since Home Cooked will need me to do some client portrait editing and retouching soon. I grabbed some of my favorite pictures of family from our wedding and got started. I will say that I'm having fun and I imagine I'll end up wasting a lot of time in the future playing with photos :) Take a look and let me know if you think I've gone too far or if the retouched photos still look natural. Before: After: Before: After: I can't wait to get started on another one :) ![]() As most of you know, my husband and I run a website company called Home Cooked Website Solutions. We're happy to say that we're doing well and are helping many small businesses and community groups find success on the internet. The very first website Jason and I built together was for 2Ascribe Medical Transcription. 2Ascribe is a long running successful transcription company that needed a new website to attract potential clients. We continue to work with 2Ascribe today and I thought it appropriate that 2Ascribe's website be the first website design I share on my creative blog. Take a look. If you'd like to visit 2Ascribe's website to take a closer look at our design and build work you can visit it at http://www.2Ascribe.com. I always like to hear feedback, so please leave your comments. ![]() I'm now certain that designing for yourself is the hardest thing to do! I can work closely with my clients, study they're business mission, image and target market to develop an appropriate brand or logo for them, but doing it for myself is painful. I truly believe the only reason we successfully finalized our logo was from the motivation, support and feedback from our family, friends and clients. Check it out! My design process from brainstorming to application and critique finally created a more modern looking logo. The concept is two small business coming together to form a close relationship and building websites. This is represented by the html coding brackets inside the two roofs. No potential client will see all this in our little, funky logo but we're happy with it. I'm excited to get started on business cards! We've already incorporated the new logo on our website. I'm not totally happy with the site anymore but in time with some changes I'm sure it will become the professional site we want. Let me know what improvements you think I could make, please visit the Home Cooked website. |
