![]() Another challenge from my good friend Holly! She's taking her kids to Disney World and requested Mickey hats for her two little ones. Holly sent me measurements for the hats and I got to work on this custom request. I used a general double crochet hat and then added my own details. ![]() Since this hat is made for an active little boy I decided a chin strap was probably a good idea (and oh so cute!). ![]() Holly asked for two Mickey hats but I couldn't resist turning her daughter's into a Mini Mouse hat. The bow is removable so it's the best of both worlds. ![]() ![]() If you need custom hats made for your kids please write me and let me know. Maybe I can help you out! P.S. Holly, I expect pictures! ![]() A great and easy recycling project. These beautiful pet beds are made out of old sheets! It's lots of fun to visit your local Value Village or Goodwill to find the most outrageous and colourful bed sheets for this project. ![]() You start by ripping or cutting your sheets into 1 - 2 inch strips. You then attach your strips together for crocheting. You'll need to purchase a very large crochet hook or you can try using your fingers. Here's a great website to learn more: http://vintagechica.typepad.com/the_life_and_times_of_thi/2006/10/rag_rug_tutoria.html. ![]() You start off by making a rag rug similar, if not the same, to the one illustrated on Vintage Chica's blog. When you've reached a point where your rug is a little larger than how big you want the base of your pet bed you can start decreasing your crochet stitches (dec sc). You might find it slightly difficult at first but by the time you make your second bed, you'll be a pro! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good Luck! ![]() Another gift for Gracie appropriately posted on her original due date. Gracie arrived 10 days early on February 5th, 2010. You can visit my blog for the 5th to see the baby blanket I also made for Gracie. This dress is probably the prettiest thing I've made and I'm very happy with it. Gracie's mom, Lauren, isn't a huge fan of pink so what do you make instead for a newborn little girl? A pretty dress! I found the pattern for this dress on The Art of Crochet by Teresa's website, http://crochet-mania.blogspot.com/2008/07/blog-post_22.html. Teresa aims to teach the world to crochet one stitch at a time :) Thank you Teresa for this pattern! The back: If you're feeling really productive you can make booties to match! Happy Crocheting! ![]() Can you believe it?!? My little sister just turned 18! I'd like to say she's catching up to me but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Although this crochet project was made for her as a Christmas present, it's only appropriate that I post it to my blog on her birthday. I had lots of fun making this hat but the entire time I was crocheting it I was thinking how ugly it was :( but I kept on pushing through. When it was done I still wasn't sure about it but I took some pictures for this blog and after taking a look at the pictures I changed my mind, it's a pretty cool hat! Katherine was happy to receive it as a Christmas present and she says she likes it :) ![]() I made the hat using the pattern provided by Lion Brand Yarn. You can find it here. You can see I added my own touches and changed yarn when I wanted rather than listening to the pattern. You can do the same! Have fun with it. ![]() ![]() This was my first crocheted stuffed animal attempt and it was a great success! I think this little guy is the cutest thing and I encourage any crocheter to give it a try. I found the pattern created by WolfDreamer when I was searching for something fun, modern(ish) and cute to make for Gracie. I can't believe WolfDreamer makes her own patterns that emulate Pokemon and Mario Brothers characters, it just amazes me. I plan on using her patterns in the future because they're free, simple to follow and produce the most adorable little animals. Thank you WolfDreamer! How could you not love that face?!?! |
